Gosh...I don't even know where to begin...I've had a load of thoughts in my head today...
I'll start with this...Tuesday night I went to Hearts at Home...this is a group of ladies from my church that are either married or engaged...we get together once a month at one of the 4 mentors house for an awesome dinner, lesson, and devotion...I love it and look forward to it :)
This Tuesday we talked about Nature vs. Nurture..one of the questions asked was what are some things that you or your spouse are good at...well, I said that Kyle is very mechanical minded...he can change the oil in his truck, fix small car problems (like the serpentine belt on my car)(I actually didn't include this one but I thought I would here), he can work on tractors...I also said that a couple of weeks ago my friends drawstring came out of her hoodie, when this happened I said, "Kyle can fix it!"...and he did in no time!!! :) He's just good with his hands...I love that about him!!!
This lesson really got me thinking, "What am I good at????" I really don't have a knack for anything...I like teaching but I don't know that I am really good at it...however I am good at teaching double digit subtraction...if your kids ever need help send them to me!!!...I like to cook...I'm not great but I'm learning...Maybe oneday I'll be as good of a cook as my mom!!! I'm not crafty or decorative like my mom and sister...my sister is going to be mad at me for telling you this but I don't care it's funny...she decorates like she has a little store setup...it cracks me up!!!...but her apartment is really cute!!!...I was never good at tennis...I liked playing though...that was one of those things I never finished...I loooove to shop...I'd like to learn how to coupon, notice I didn't say EXTREME coupon...I'd also like to get a monogramming machine...I love monogrammed stuff!!! Maybe I could make some money...one problem the machine is expensive...hmmm...Well, I could keep going then you probably won't finish reading this post because you're bored...so I'll stop this list and move on...

Look at the problem:
You can't take 9 from 8 so you go next door and you say, "Heeeey Mr. 2 can I borrow 1?" He says, "Yes!" ...then you say, Heeeey Mr. 8 can I give you 10?" He says, "Yes!" 18-9=9 1-1=0...so you're done!
(my numbers aren't posting correctly) but the answer is 9
This is the gist of it!!!
It's better in person :) My
students LOOOOOVED it!!!
MY HEART GOES OUT TO THOSE IN NORTH ALABAMA THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THE TORNADOES!!!
So glad my cousins are safe and sound!!! I love y'all!!

I love reading your blog! So sorry for the loss of your dog. My heart is heavy for you because we love our animals like our children. We are animal lovers big time! Everyone is good at something. Maybe you just cant see it for yourself. Ask Kyle what your good at. Love your little math trick!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I met a young girl named Hope last weekend. She is actually our soon to be new landlords daughter. The moment she said her name, I thought of you! There is hope all around! Take care! Holly
This is funny. My michael is the exact same as your Kyle. I always say, even if he hasn't fixed it before, he will fix it when the time comes because he just naturally knows how to work things, figure things out, and do it. I, on the other hand, can't do any of that kind of stuff to save my life, and am always trying to figure out what I am good at. I asked him one day, hoping for an idea or fishing for a compliment, either way, he said...Um...you're good at cooking and cleaning. lol I'm not sure he could even come up with something:-) It was funny but I am a lot like you. I know I would enjoy teaching, I enjoy learning to cook and different things, but I'm not sure theres one big thing that would ever jump out that I'm good at it!
ReplyDeleteAt least we're in the boat together:-)
I complain a lot that I don't have a niche for anything...he compliments my cooking...sometimes :) That's not a natural thing to be good at though...I wish something just came easy to me like it does to him...
ReplyDeleteThank you Holly :)
